The Direct Action Group (DAG) Ballistic Shield Tactics Course is an intensive 8-hour program designed to provide law enforcement officers and tactical personnel with practical, hands-on instruction in the effective deployment of ballistic shields during real-world operations. Students will begin by developing a solid understanding of shield applications, capabilities, and operational limitations before progressing into proper positioning, movement, and communication techniques. Instruction focuses on maximizing officer protection while maintaining mobility, situational awareness, and the ability to effectively engage threats. The course then advances into two- to four-officer bunker team formations, emphasizing coordinated movement, communication, and tactical decision-making. Students will apply these skills during practical dry scenarios before transitioning to live-fire exercises. The training culminates with multiple live-fire shield qualification runs and live-fire bunker team tactics, allowing students to safely apply the principles learned throughout the course under instructor supervision. This course is designed for sworn law enforcement officers and tactical personnel seeking to improve survivability, team coordination, and confidence while deploying ballistic shields during high-risk operations. Students should be prepared for a physically demanding day of training that includes repeated movement drills and live-fire exercises while wearing duty gear.
